Paper Bites is a project series where Malaysian food is made out of paper into 3D form.
It is a way to introduce other states food to people who has never been there before or have
been there a long time ago.

This the first series which I mainly focus on Melaka food as it has been more than 10 years since I’ve been to Melaka. The urge of eating the food in Melaka is real and by making the modular food, I hope it brings you joy and stimulates the hunger in you to fill your own tummy with these good food.
How did it come about?
Food is one of my inspirations that made me want to do this project as chefs and hawkers put in different ingredients and also love and passion to come out with such a delicious plate of food. Thus, making food out of paper has the served the same values as these chefs and hawkers out there that has poured out their love, passion and dedication towards their food.
For this first series, I will be focusing on Melaka food as it has been a while since I've been to Melaka. The urge of eating other states food is real and I hope to try them out some day!
Ice Kacang (ABC)
Ice Kacang is mainly a popular dessert across Malaysia with its colourful syrup poured acoss the cold shaving ice matching with the toppings. There are different versions of ice kacang from state to state but in Melaka, they use a special weapon, which is Gula Melaka (palm sugar)!
Nyonya Kuih
Nyonya Kuih is a savoury snack in Malaysia. These kuih’s come in all kinds of shapes and sizes, flavours and vibrant colours. From the round coated coconut flakes Onde-Onde to the many layers of colours Kuih Lapis. Kuih’s are not mainly eaten during dessert but can be eaten at any time.
Hainanese Chicken Rice Ball
Chicken Rice Ball is one of a famous dish in Melaka, because of its tender chicken, tangy chilli sauce and the special dish of all, the round shape rice ball. There are many theories of why it was shaped like a round shape but no matter what shape it was, as long as it tastes good, that’s good food.
